The Tanzanian boxer was declared the winner via technical knockout after Wanyonyi threw in the towel after five of the ten rounds.
Turns out it was not just words after all.
Tanzania's internet boxing sensation Karim Mandonga 'Mtu Kazi' perfectly lived up to the hype he had singlehandedly created as he triumphed over Kenya's Daniel Wanyonyi via technical knockout in their Super Middleweight contest staged at the KICC Ballroom in Nairobi on Sunday morning.
With his fight having been pushed from being the curtain raiser to the main act of the day, the Tanzanian international delivered the goods against the Kenyan as he ensured the bout, planned to last for 10 rounds, ended halfway after Wanyonyi and his camp threw in the towel after the conclusion of the fifth round.

Right from the word go, the Kenyan boxer, who had promised to silence the hyper and talkative Mandonga, found himself struggling to impose himself in the clash as the 43 year old bossed the opening proceedings with his neat punches and excellent footwork.
After a relatively balanced opening round, Mandonga started laying inroads in the clash as he unleashed punch after punch on Wanyonyi who struggled most times to cope with the intensity.

Upon noticing his growing momentum and confidence in the clash, a rejuvenated Mandonga took the fight to Wanyonyi who looked tired early on as he landed clean punches that forced the Kenyan to retreat time and again.
The fourth and fifth round saw Mandonga up his aggression as he left no room for Wanyonyi to make his presence felt, a tactic that ended paying off as the player threw in the towel much to Mandonga’s wild jubilation.
“Earlier, I had promised that I will beat Wanyonyi by all means necessary and I have perfectly demonstrated that. I have put my words into action by winning through my special Sungunyo punch which worked. I had to do the talking to promote the match,” the boxer said after the fight.
On his part, Wanyonyi blamed ill preparations for his decision to throw in the towel before the completion of the planned ten rounds.

In the fight preceding the clash, Kenya’s Rayton Okwiri gave the home fans some reason to cheer as defeated Shabani Ndaro (Tanzania) via Unanimous Decision in their Middleweight clash.
Okwiri was set to take on Kassim Ouma of Uganda in the middleweight fight that was initially set to take place in Kampala, Uganda on Monday 26th December but failed to take place after Okwiri demanded to be paid before the fight.

Ally Ndaro is a good boxer. He fought hard and wasn't intimidated by Okwiri's record and the huge Kenyan crowd cheering on Okwiri.

Further reports stated that the Ugandan chickened out of the 10-bout card non-title fight forcing the organizers to bring in the Arusha-based Ndaro also known as Ngunda.
